About

The medium I work in is photography. I have had an avid interest in historical photographic process and other techniques since the beginning of my study of photography in 1983. Committed to the unique and multi faceted aspects of photography, I work with a variety of alternative photographic processes and printing techniques including: bromoil, cyanotype, gum bichromate, liquid light, tin type, gel and other transfer processes, multiple negative printing, silver gelatin, hand painting and mixed media.

For the past several years, I have devoted the majority of my time to the development of my artwork, and have been producing and exhibiting my new work throughout Alberta.

In my series: “Generations III”, Cyanotype on fabric and paper, I explore the similarities over three generations of families through the use of photos and negatives of my parents, grandparents, myself and my siblings and my two children.

The series: “Through the Eyes of a Child”, digital photographs on silk and paper, depicts the playful aspects of childhood that remain constant over time, generations and cultures.

The artwork in the series “The Art of Play”, specifically documents the innate desire to collect. These works examined a familiar collection for many boys – the tiny cars endearingly referred to in our house as dinky cars (to get away from the corporate brand names). For this series the work is comprised of digital on paper and silk, cyanotype on fabric, Bromoil and 400 digital images displayed on digital frames.

My latest series is about the way we engage with our environment. The basis of this environment is man made – architecture, structures, objects, buildings, ect. The largest player within this constructed landscape is time – altering the appearance and functionality. Not only does time over the long term change the physical appearance through aging and the additions and removal of elements, but the time of year and time of day also changes the appearance and sometimes the use.
